James Dayton feels that his patience has paid off this season after he bagged a goal in Leyton Orient’s win over Mansfield Town on Tuesday.
The midfielder opened the scoring in the 2-1 win, firing in at the near post underneath Stags goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik.
It’s been a stop-start campaign for Dayton with injuries and suspensions, but his hard work on the training ground coupled with his patience is starting to have rewards.
After Tuesday’s game, he said: “I’ve had to be patient this year coming off the back of a bad injury last year and not being fully fit for the start of the season, then playing catch up and trying to get match fit, and then getting the silly sending off.
“I’ve been patient, I’ve been training hard but we’ve got a great squad and the lads have been doing well. Luckily enough I got in tonight and I’ve taken my chance.”
