Ross Embleton have provided an injury update on Marvin Ekpiteta and Ruel Sotiriou.

The pair missed last night’s 2-1 win at home to Mansfield Town having played at the weekend against Macclesfield Town.

However, Embleton is hopeful that the pair can be in contention for Saturday’s trip to Cheltenham Town.

Speaking after the win, he said: “Marv has had a shin problem for a lot of the season and we felt that it was settling down. Probably down to the amount of football that we’ve played recently, and the amount of football that Marv has had to play, has meant that that has flared up again.

“He’s walking around the training ground at the moment with two bags of ice on his shins, trying to get the real pain that he’s got there to settle down.

“Scans have shown us that it’s not too serious and we would hope that maybe he’ll be up for selection again at the weekend, but that will remain to be seen.”

On the absence of Sotiriou, the boss added: “Ruel [has] a muscle injury, a hamstring injury, again probably down to the amount of football he’s played and because of his performances you have to keep him in the team.

“I probably would have questioned replacing him this evening anyway to try and take the load off him but he’s got a hamstring problem that has kept him out of tonight.

“We’ll have a look at how he responds over the next couple of days to see whether or not he qualifies for the weekend but we’re hoping it’s not anything particularly serious.”
