Dean Brill has retired from playing and will join the Leyton Orient coaching staff.

Brill initially joined the club as a goalkeeper coach in 2017 but quickly became part of the playing staff under Justin Edinburgh, becoming a regular in the 2017/18 season.

He then went on to play every minute of Orient's National League title-winning campaign last season, keeping 24 clean sheets in the process.

The 'keeper sustained an injury earlier this season and was due to be out for the remainder of the campaign before retiring.

Speaking to the club website, he said: “The word retirement is quite a final one but I’m excited to still be a part of this club and hopefully start giving back some of my experience.

"I started my coaching journey a few years back and it’s something I have been looking to get back into. The opportunity arose and I’m so excited to take it.”

Brill started his career at Luton Town before going on to represent Oldham Athletic, Barnet, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Motherwell and Colchester United.
