Lee Bowyer praised Josh Davison and Tom Lockyer who both struck their first goals for Charlton as the Addick’s came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with West Brom.

Davison and Lockyer cancelled out a Kenneth Zohore strike and a Naby Sarr own goal to give Boywer’s young Addicks a deserved point at The Valley.

The manager spoke glowingly of the 20-year-old forward who’s been given the opportunity to lead the line after injuries to Charlton’s ‘regular’ forwards Lyle Taylor, Macauley Bonne and Tomer Hemed.

Davison struck home Naby Sarr’s wayward header from close range, leading to wild celebrations from the youngster, although Bowyer revealed he was as surprised as anyone to see the forward hit the equaliser.

“He wasn’t supposed to be there!” Bowyer said.

“He was meant to be the other side.

“But fair play to him, he took it well, his reaction.

“I’m really pleased for him because the games he has played, last weekend, in the cup, he’s been unlucky, he’s hit the bar, he’s been saying ‘it just won’t go in for me!’

“So I’ve been saying ‘just keep doing what you’ve been doing and it’ll come’, I’m over the moon for him.”

“Let’s not forget he was playing for Enfield a few months ago and now he’s scored against West Brom, a top side in this division.

“I’m really pleased for him.”

Charlton’s other scorer was Tom Lockyer also bagged his first goal for the club, although Sky Sports gave it as a Sam Johnstone own goal.

Rising at the back post the Welshman’s header was palmed on to the post before going in off the keeper, leading to the broadcaster taking the goal away from Lockyer.

“Rubbish, it’s Lockyer’s goal,” Bowyer added.

“He’s done everything, he’s worked hard to lose his man, great header.

“Just because the keeper tried to save it and then it went in it’s not his goal?

“It happens every week.

“It’s Tom’s goal, it’s stupid if they don’t give it to him.”
