Hull City’s visit to The Valley has come to soon for midfielder Sam Field although Jonny Williams is expected to feature.

Lee Bowyer’s Charlton have been ravaged by injury this season, with as many as 12 first team players occupying the treatment table.

Ahead of Friday night’s fixture against the Tigers, the Addicks boss revealed on-loan West Brom midfielder has been undergoing treatment at his parent club as he recovers from a knee injury picked up in late October at Bristol City.

“Sam will be back with us Wednesday," he said.

“I had a good conversation with the sports science fella up in West Brom the other day, and he said that he’ll be back with us on Wednesday.

“They’ve sent me some of the videos of what they have been doing with him outside and he looks good.”

Bowyer is aware he can’t rush the midfielder back into action despite the temptation to do so with numbers low.

“You can’t just chuck him in and start him but at least we can have a player that we can start bedding back in like what we were doing with Lyle Taylor and what we are going to have to do with Jonny Williams.

“Hopefully they start coming back slowly but surely and they start giving us a better chance.”

This Is Local London:

Williams has been training with the squad an is expected to make the bench on Friday, as will Lyle Taylor who has featured in Charlton’s previous two fixtures.

“Lyle will be involved on Friday, he’ll be in the squad again.

“We have to be careful, we can’t be stupid, if he breaks down we’ll be kicking ourselves.

“We have to take the advice from the medical team.

“No one would like to see Lyle start more than me.

“We’ve missed him.

“He makes a big difference in and out of possession.

“But there’s 20 odd games to go, a long way to go.”
