Here's how the Palace players rated in their 1-0 wn over Bournemouth.

Vicente Guaita 7

Despite being down to ten men for a large chunk of the game, Guaita was only forced into one save of not, in the 85th minute. A superb stop to deny Lerma from distance.

Patrick van Aanholt 4

Looked good going forward but caught out of position at the back. Unfortunate to get injured early on which forced him off, but in truth he should’ve cleared his lines before pulling a muscle.

Martin Kelly 7

Didn’t put a foot wrong at right back and kept Groenveld and the adventurous Rico quiet. Backs against the wall for large parts of the second half and in a battle you’d want Martin Kelly in your trench.

Mamadou Sakho 3

Looked way off the pace in the 20 minutes he was on the pitch. Some will say he got the ball, but nonetheless it was a reckless tackle of a man who found it difficult getting the ball under control.

James Tomkins 8

Commanded the backline after Sakho’s dismissal and tuning into THE main defender at the club. Didn’t give Callum Wilson or Dominic Solanke a sniff.

Luka Milivojevic 6

Poor off the set-piece but broke up play well when needed. Shielded the back line impeccably and released pressure when it mattered.

Cheikhou Kouyate 8

Monumental performance. Dropped back into defence and took like a duck to water. Made multiple blocks and had the composure to play out of defence opposed to hitting it long.

James McArthur 8

Industrious off the ball and harries the opposition. But what is not mentioned enough is his quality in possession. He may not be fashionable but Hodgson knows how key he is to Palace’s midfield.

Wilfried Zaha 9

A man in form. Second half with the entire Bournemouth half to himself he thrived knowing the onus was on him to pull his team up the park. £80 million? Sure did play like it tonight.

Andros Townsend 5

Failed to get into the game and when in possession made the wrong pass. That said unfortunate to get hooked at the break.

Jordan Ayew 8

There was talk of Benteke making a start in his place this evening but Ayew shone and showed why Hodgson gave him the shirt. Second half he showed a turn of pace not many know of and showed composure when it mattred. Multiple free-kicks won which eased the pressure. Becoming a favourite…but needs to add goals.

Subs:

Jeffrey Schlupp 8

Slotted in seamlessly at left back and if anything solidified the flank, although offered little going forward as you’d expect with ten men, until that goal!

James McCarthy 7

Sured up the midfield and worked well with Milivojevic.
