Lee Bowyer believes there are good times ahead for Charlton following the potential takeover by East Street Investments.

Despite a 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in front of their new owners, pending the English Football League’s approval, Bowyer admitted it can only be good for the club with the new owners ready to invest in the club.

“I’ve met and spoken to the potential new central new owners, it was a positive meeting, a positive conversation,” he said.

“If they do get the green light form the EFL then it’s going to be good news for the football club, from what I hear it’s all positive.

“At the end of the day the Football Club is the most important thing, if it’s going to improve us, then it’s the most important thing.

“There’s money to spend in January.

“Me and the staff are going to get new contracts, proper contracts.

“It’s positive and sounds good.

“I don’t’ know how long it will take but it shouldn’t take that long.

"We need to start planning for January.

“It’ll be nice to be able to strengthen the squad.”
