James Tomkins and Christian Benteke have extended their contracts with Crystal Palace.

Tomkins’ new deal will see him remain with the Selhurst Park outfit until the end of the 2021/22 season, whilst Benteke’s will remain until the end of the next campaign.

Benteke joined Palace from Liverpool for a fee of £27million in the summer of 2016 and has made 98 appearances for the Eagles, scoring 21 goals.

The Belgian international has had a torrid time with injury since his move and as a result his form has suffered scoring just one league goal last season and zero so far this term.

The 28-year-old is hopeful he can repay the faith shown in him from Roy Hodgson and the Palace board.

“I am very happy to have reached an agreement to extend my contract with Palace for another year.

"The team have started the season really well and there is a lot to be positive about.

"I am more committed than ever to repaying the faith that the chairman, manager and our amazing fans have shown in me.”

Defender Tomkins joined the Eagles in the same window as Benteke and has ammased 87 appearances in that time.

Last season the former West Ham man established himself alongside Mamadou Sakho at the heart of Roy Hodgson's defence but a groin injury has seen him sidelined since April.

“I’m now in my fourth season and I’ve really enjoyed my time at Palace," he said.

"I’m excited about the future here and didn’t hesitate to commit myself to the club for an additional two years.

"It’s been great to be part of this team and to have the support of the chairman, manager and staff.”
