Lee Bowyer has once again saluted Charlton’s travelling army of supporters.

The Addicks sold out their allocation at Fulham a fortnight ago and they’re expected to do so for their upcoming fixtures on the road at Bristol City, West Brom and Millwall.

With just a handful of tickets remaining for the mid-week trek along the M4 to Ashton Gate on Wednesday, the Addicks boss hailed his side’s followers and the impact they’re having this season.

“Our fans have been unbelievable home and away.” Bowyer said.

“It’s great.

“But I think they’re recognising what a big part they play.

“The Fulham game they didn’t stop singing, to go there and get a point, it could’ve been three on another day, they realise they play a part,

“They keep the boys going and hopefully they can do that at Bristol, but at home first on Saturday we’ll need them against Derby.”

Positive Atmosphere

Charlton return to Championship football after a positive run of results and performances, picking four points from nine from Leeds, Swansea and Fulham, sides expected to be fighting for promotion this season.

The good atmosphere around the training ground at Sparrow Lane is nothing new says Bowyer, as he explains the excitement hi players have looking forward to getting back on the pitch.

“It’s like that all the time,” he added.

“I have a great bunch that love going out there and training every day.

“They’ve kept doing what they’re doing ever since I took over.

“They know that if they work hard you get rewards.

“They know they can’t take their foot off the pedal.

“They’re looking forward to Saturday now, like kids with their toys, we’ve taken their toys away with no games, and now they have their toys back and raring to go.

“I’m looking forward to the weekend, the intensity will be high, passion will be high because they’ve missed it.

“With the crowd behind us again, the place will be bouncing and most importantly we’ll try and get the three points.”
