Millwall fans were left less than impressed with Neil Harris after their side’s 2-0 defeat at Blackburn.

The Lions manager came in for stick after goals from Derrick Williams and Bradley Dack either side of the break inflicted a second defeat of the season on his outfit.

A summer overhaul in personnel injected and air of optimism around The Den at the beginning of the season, with early season results giving further cause for celebration.

Seven games in however and with just five goals to their name and sitting 15th in the Championship, optimism of gate crashing the top half of the table is fading, even at such an early stage of the season.

The defeat left Millwall with nine points from a possible 21, and extended their winless streak on the road which dates back to since March.

Harris remained positive after the defeat at Ewood Park however, a feeling that wasn’t echoed by many of the travelling support.

"We played some really good football early on,” said Harris.

“First half we were the better team.

“We controlled a lot of the possession.

“We worked hard during the international break on controlling the ball and around the ball.”

"We didn't do enough in the second half to create those clear-cut chances again, it was hustle-bustle towards the end with balls into the box.

"I picked a young team today with a lot of legs in it, although might not have had quite enough Millwall knowhow.

“I look at myself and the team selection and understand that some players are in good form, some have done well in individual performances.

“In the first half it showed that we played some really good football and we had legs to press the ball.

“The second half wasn't quite right, and the players have to take responsibility as well.

"Overall, it was no real fault of the players that we were beaten by probably a more clinical team.

“I can't however fault the bravery of the players in an away game at Blackburn - today it just didn't go our way."

Harris comments angered a number of Lions fans, with a few feeling the former player has taken the side as far as he can.
