Beram Kayal will not be rushed back to fitness says Charlton boss Lee Bowyer.

The deadline day signing has yet to feature in the Addick’s last two fixtures as he recovers from a groin injury.

The on-loan Brighton man has been at the club for a week but has not been fit for selection for Charlton’s previous two fixtures, a league win over Stoke and an EFL Cup defeat to Forest Green.

“He’s progressing nicely, but we have to take care and do it right,” Bowyer said.

“We want to make sure that when he does come back he’s ready to go and flying, so we don’t want to rush him back.

“I’m not going to guess and put pressure on the physio department.

“It’s a case of when he’s back he’s back.

“I have everybody fit at the moment so no reason to rush him, I want him back strong and not break down.

“It’s important we get that right and hopefully have him for the rest of the season.”

Charlton have no new injury concerns going into the weekend’s trip to Barnsley with Lewis Page the only known absentee.

Midfield is a position Charlton are fortunate to have multiple players available.

Darren Pratley, Josh Cullen and Conor Gallagher were preferred in midfield for the 3-1 Stoke City victory, whilst Jake Forster-Caskey, George Laplie and Albie Morgan all featured in the EFL Cup defeat mid-week.
