Crystal Palace was sold to James McCarthy by one player the midfielder revealed.
The admission comes after the 28-year-old made the £3million switch from Everton to Selhurst Park on Wednesday.
McCarthy admitted it was his former Hamilton Academics and Wigan teammate James McArthur who helped make his decision.
“He couldn’t speak any more highly of it,” McCarthy said of his namesake.
“I’m delighted to be here; it’s a fresh start that I thought I needed.
“I can’t wait to get started.
“It feels like a very nice club, nice family club and the fans obviously come out in their numbers.”

The Irish international spent six years at Goodison establishing himself as a key player under Roberto Martinez.
Suffering a broken leg in 2018, he fell down the pecking order under Ronald Koeman and current boss Marco Silva, but having made over 100 league appearances for Everton, Palace boss Roy Hodgson feels he still has much to offer.
“He’s a player I’ve admired for a very long time,” Hodgson said.
“He’s a player with a vast amount of Premier League experience, given his six and four years playing for Everton and Wigan respectively, and will be an excellent addition to our midfield.”
McCarthy’s arrival comes hours after the Victor Camarasa joined the club on a season-long loan from Real Betis.
Both are expected to be available for the weekends opening fixture against Everton.
