Manchester United’s new signing Aaron Wan Bissaka revealed the advice Wilfried Zaha gave him upon moving to Old Trafford.

The right-back left Crystal Palace last month in a deal thought to rise to £50million and follows the footsteps of Zaha who made the same switch six and a half years ago.

Zaha, who returned to Palace permanently in 2015 offered his advice to the 22-year-old who made his debut for the Red Devils against Perth Glory in Australia at the weekend.

Making just two appearances from the bench whilst at United, Zaha found himself loaned out to Cardiff City and Palace before eventually re-signing at Selhurst Park on a permanent deal.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Wan-Bissaka offered an insight as to what may have hindered Zaha in his ill-fated spell with the Old Trafford outfit.

"When he knew that I joined he just told me to play without fear,” he said.

"I have come here as a new signing he said 'just play your game and do what I did last season.'

"He was happy for me. He said I deserved it and I should continue working hard and doing what I do."

Now flourishing in South London, the Ivorian has been the subject of transfer speculation with Arsenal strongly linked with the 26-year-old.

Speculation surrounding Wan-Bissaka’s future was rife in the January transfer window and all summer until his departure after a meteoric rise following a breakout season which revealed the academy product as one of the biggest prospects in football.

The speculation however was something Wan-Bissaka could isolated himself from during a busy summer which saw him feature for the Young Lions in the Under-21 European Championship in Italy last month.

"I was not focused on that really.

“I do not focus on speculation, I just keep my head down and keep doing it on the pitch," he said.

"It is easy for me to block out, the main thing is just playing football."
