Two Cheltenham Town fans’ groups have joined together to start a crowdfunding page with the aim of providing a “fitting tribute” to the late Justin Edinburgh when they visit Leyton Orient.

The two sides will play each other on the opening day of the League Two season, Orient’s first back in the Football League after Edinburgh, who passed away earlier this month, guided them to the National League title.

The page has been shared on Twitter by Robins Trust, but in a tweet, they said that it was a joint effort between themselves and another group, 1887 Red Army.

The description on the Crowdfunding page reads: “It’s sure to be a hugely difficult and emotional day for Orient fans. It will be the first match without their manager who died last month and we’d like to send a clear message of support from our fans, to theirs.

“We hope this tribute will show the love and empathy of the entire football community. We are aiming to crowdfund a huge flag to be displayed and presented at the game with the message: ‘He made you dream again’.”

Orient’s match against Cheltenham kicks off at 3pm on Saturday, August 3.
