Darren Pratley was full of praise for his manager after he guided them to a play-off showdown with Sunderland at Wembley.

In little over 18 months, Bowyer has led the Addicks to back to back top six finishes and are now just one game away from securing Championship football after their penalty win over Doncaster Rovers.

Pratley who joined last summer lauded Bowyer for his managerial style and how he’s got the side concentrating solely on on-filed issues.

“He’s been brilliant, hopefully we go that step further, get promoted and get his contract sorted so we’ve got him for next year,” Pratley said.

“We’re lucky we’ve got a manager who lets the boys go out and express themselves.

“He’ll tell us when we mess up but he’ll also pat the boys on the back.

“All he asks is for the boys to give their all.

“To be honest, he’s got good boys, a good changing rom.

“All the boys have been brilliant, no one has come in and caused a fuss.”

Pratley, who spent seven years at troubled Bolton Wanderers, revealed that off-field dramas which include ownership and contract issues have not affected the side, largely thanks to Bowyer.

“What off-field drama?” he quipped.

“He’s not brought that in to the changing room.

“I’ve been at clubs before where that filters in to the changing room, but he just lets us concentrate on our football.

“Whatever else is going on out there we don’t care about.

“We concentrate on football, and that’s probably why we’ve done so well.”
