Southgate taekwondo school members Maia Harrison and Laura Jones have recently returned from the ITF World Taekwondo Championships in Inzell, Germany.
Both girls, aged 17, competed for England in the third-degree junior patterns category. After many rounds of tough competition against countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, Kazakhstan, Ireland and England, both girls emerged with a medal.
Jones worked her way to the semi-finals, achieving a bronze medal, and Harrison got all the way to the final but came away with a silver medal, losing narrowly 3-2 in the final to the Argentine competitor.
The next step is to see if the girls can add a European medal to their world achievement by competing later this year at the European Championships in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
