The international break has given Jake Cooper time to re-charge and relax ahead of a huge couple of months for Millwall.

On the back of a busy February and March, the couple of days off Neil Harris gave his men also gave his Lions an opportunity to reflect on what was a hugely positive FA Cup adventure according to Cooper.

Although defeated on penalties by Brighton, the 24-year-old centre half can see nothing but positives from their cup campaign.

“People can’t say a bad word about us,” he said.

“No one could’ve watched that game and thought negatively about us as a team.

“There were little slip-ups and mistakes but playing against a top team like Brighton that’s going to happen.

“It was down to a shoot-out where anything can happen.

“We are proud about that and just need to take that into the last few games.

“Everyone at the club has taken huge positives from it.

“It was a nice run, but now we can focus on the league, and not worry about everything else.

“We know if we can take a performance like that into league games we should be ok.”

Leeds up next in season's priority - league survival

Millwall currently sit 20th in the Championship, a point above the relegation zone but with a game in hand as they head to promotion chasing Leeds on Saturday.

“After a great performance against Brighton, we’ve had a nice break but now it’s time to focus on the remainder of the season.

“It’s a massive game for both us for different reasons.

“We are the underdogs, but we are good as a Club are good at being the underdog, but we go there full of confidence.

“We’ll have a big following at Elland road and it’ll be a great occasion I’m sure.”

'Not fussed about Reading'

Cooper makes no bones about being in a relegation battle and knows the difficulty of the task at hand with four or five clubs all in the fight for survival.

One of those clubs is his former employer, but the Reading Youth Academy product holds no punches in where his allegiances lay.

“I’m not fussed about Reading, my time is done there, I have no real connections there anymore.

“It’s a great club I was massively involved in, but that’s in the past now, and I’m looking forward to the future and now that’s keeping Millwall in the Championship.”
