AFC Telford United have confirmed that they have received several reports of an individual directing alleged racist abuse towards a Leyton Orient player in the FA Trophy semi-final match at the weekend.

As well as this, the Shropshire club have also said they have received reports of clashes between fans and objects being thrown towards the pitch area and the away dugout.

Orient won the game 2-1 on the day through goals from Matt Harrold and Josh Coulson, with Ellis Deeney striking for Telford in between the two goals after Harrold had been sent off for an alleged elbow.

Macauley Bonne's goal in the first leg of the tie ensured the O's took a 3-1 win on aggregate over the two legs.

A statement on the club’s website said: “In light of recent posts on social media, AFC Telford United can confirm we have received several reports over the weekend informing us of a number of incidents that took place on Saturday both inside and outside the stadium.

“We can conform we have also received several reports of an individual who directed racist abuse at an opposition player as well as several supporters who threw a number of objects onto the field of play above the away dugout.

“These incidents have been reported to the FA as they were picked up on the match officials’ report.”

The club has said they will not tolerate the behaviour and that they will “share information with the police so that criminal proceedings can be considered.”

Orient's success in the match means they will now face AFC Fylde in the final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 19.
