Charlton will be looking to repeat last season’s run in as they look to capitalise on any slip-ups from the top two according to their manager.

Following their 2-1 victory over Burton, Lee Bowyer’s side sit eight points behind second placed Barnsley and the Addicks boss maintained his men won’t be taking their foot off the gas in the League One run-in.

“There’s still nine games to go, that’s a lot of games,” said Bowyer.

“Last season we had ten games when I took over and we went and one six or seven.

“Are we capable of doing that again?

“I believe we can better that, and if the top two want to throw it away we have to be in a position to grab the opportunity.”

Following back to back victories he’s seen the five-point gap with seventh placed Peterborough increase to 11 points, and although a play-off spot is almost assured, the manager is taking nothing for granted but conceded the players will be having a break over the international period.

“That’s happened over two games, look how quickly it can happen it can easily go the other way.

“For me it’s not about what the teams below us do, we just got to concentrate on what we‘re doing.

“We have to win every game, but they’ll have a break.

“Hopefully they’ll go and have a bit of sun and recharge their batteries because they’ve earned it.

“No matter what happens on Saturday they’ve earned it in getting us to the situation we are in.”
