Lyle Taylor admitted his relief in bringing an end his goal scoring drought in Charlton’s 2-1 victory over Portsmouth.
The match-winners’ strike was the forward’s first goal since January 12, during which time he served a three-match ban.
The forward’s 16th goal of the season in all competition closed the gap with Pompey in fourth to two points.
“Not scoring did bother me,” said Taylor.
“Because we had no Tuesday games during my suspension it felt like I was out for about six years.
“I think it’s only been three or four games since I scored, but that’s two months, so I have thought about it and it’s been an annoying one for me.
“I had (George) Lapslie block one on the line at Wimbledon, hit the post at Doncaster, so it has been frustrating.
“But the whole point was to perform and we performed under massive massive pressure.
“It was brilliant out there today.”
