Jordan Cousins spent ten years with Charlton Athletic before moving to QPR in 2016 so it’s no surprise that he still has a soft spot for The Addicks.

The 23-year-old made over 100 appearances for Charlton before leaving the club after their relegation from the England’s second tier.

Now a mainstay in Steve McClaren’s side, the midfielder said he was pleased to see Lee Bowyer’s men chasing promotion.

“I always keep an eye on them to see if they’re doing well,” said Cousins.

“It’s great to see them pushing on and trying to get back in the Championship.

“I was with them for ten good years.

“They’ve made a good start and I hope to see them back in the Championship!”

The Greenwich-born academy graduate was named Charlton’s player of the season for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016 before his transfer, believed to be in the region of £1.5million, to West London.

Cousins was speaking after his Hoops side fell to an injury time winner at Loftus Road on Tuesday where West Brom left as 3-2 victors.
