There is light at the end of the tunnel according to Lee Bowyer in regard to injuries as Joe Aribo and Jason Pearce gave the manager a fitness boost this week.

Aribo who has been out since December 22nd is fit to return to action after overcoming a knee injury whilst captain Pearce looks likely to be available next weekend.

Charlton’s campaign has been blighted by a number of injuries to key personnel but Bowyer believes the timing of Aribo and Pearce’s return is perfect.

“I’m happier now than I was maybe four to six weeks ago,” said Bowyer.

“Aribo has trained this week, he’ll be in the squad.

“Pearce is playing in the under 23 game on Friday, he’s training with us but wants to get a game under his belt before he’s involved, so hopefully he’ll do that and he’ll be involved next weekend.

“We are starting to get players back and at the right time.

“Its going to be tough between now and the end of the season and we need to go on a winning run which we are capable of.”

Tarique Fosu

Pat Bauer will also be available to Bowyer after serving his one match ban following his dismissal at Fleetwood a fortnight ago.

Lyle Taylor also returns following suspension but Krystian Bielik will miss the next two games after picking up ten bookings this season.

Taylor’s return could see the demotion of Tarique Fosu to the bench. The forward who has split opinions this season, one of whom is Bowyer.

The Charlton boss was openly critical of the attackers display against Southend post match, but claims it's only because he knows the potential of the 23-year-old.

“It’s been a tough season for Tarique," said Bowyer.

“He’s been in and out with injuries and his form hasn’t been what it was last season, which is clear to see.

“It’s frustrating because you know what he’s capable of, but you can’t keep leave him in the side if he’s not doing well, we’ve got to go out there and win every game, we have competition for places, and Tarique is no different.

“That’s the whole point of building the squad we have, if you aren’t on it and not performing you don’t play.

“That’s not just this club, that’s every club.”
