Barnet reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy after a 2-1 home win over Carshalton Athletic in their replay.

The Bees will travel to AFC Fylde in the last-eight of the competition on Saturday, February 23 after edging to victory at the Hive on Tuesday night.

In the first match between the teams, Barnet conceded a 90th minute penalty which denied them victory in their 3-3 draw.

Darren Currie’s side made a dominant start to the replay and were rewarded with the seventh-minute opener when Wesley Fonguck’s cross was tapped in by Shaq Coulthirst.

The Bostik League opponents were under pressure during the first half but snatched an equaliser against the run of play after 19 minutes.

Tommy Bradford won the ball and released Jacob Mendy for a composed finish past goalkeeper Will Huffer.

Barnet responded immediately and it took less than a minute for the hosts to regain the lead. Striker Coulthirst struck a fierce half-volley into the net to delight the home fans.

Coulthirst almost completed his hat-trick before the break but he was denied by a superb save from goalkeeper Patrick Ohman.

Carshalton came back into the game in the second half and the Bees had a scare when Bobby Price struck the post.

The visitors threatened again through Christie Pattisson but he was denied by an excellent save from Huffer.

The final chance fell to Medy Elito as his effort was saved by Ohman.
