Day 18 of your Charlton Christmas Calendar sees us looking at Karlan Grant.

Grant has been exceptional this season.

His loan spell at Crawley at the back end of last season seems to have worked wonders for the striker.

Scoring nine goals in 15 in League Two earlier this year he’s continued that form in to this season notching 11 goals to date.

“Now his confidence is back. I tell him all the time how good he is, how good he can be. That’s what you have to do, sometimes you have to tell them,” Bowyer said following the end of the loan deal.

Stats would say that when the 21-year-old scores, Charlton do not lose.

He’s formed a formidable partnership with Lyle Taylor who has ten league goals himself, and he’s starting to earn the praise, quite rightly, that was showering Taylor earlier this season.

Grant was up for the League One Player of the Month award in September, an award that Taylor eventually won, but form would suggest Grant is not far from winning his own accolade.

He admitted he had motivational issues whilst on loan at Cambridge two years ago, but it seems he’s matured into a player who is loving their football at the minute.

Grant is currently side-lined with a hamstring injury that he picked up in the huge 2-1 win at Fratton Park a week ago, and Bowyer will be hoping to get his striker back in the fold for the Christmas schedule.
