Day 12 of the Charlton Christmas Calendar and we look at Ben Reeves contribution so far this season.

The midfielder was added to a long list of injured players at The Valley at the start of the season and despite being available from early September he still seems to be playing his way back to fitness.

An achillies injury picked up in pre-season quashed Reeves’ chances of kicking-on from his debut 2017/18 season.

The 27-year-old features frequently in Lee Bowyer’s first team squad but is not a permanent fixture in the starting XI.

With long-term injuries to Jake Forster-Caskey, Josh Cullen and Jamie Ward, Reeves will be looking to the busy December fixture list as an opportunity to stake a claim to be a regular starter.

Injuries to the aforementioned has given Bowyer the unwanted opportunity to field youngsters George Lapslie, Albie Morgan and more recently Toby Stevenson. All three have impressed when called upon, particularly Lapslie who seems to be edging Reeves out for the key midfield role along-side Joe Aribo.

He still remains one of former manager Karl Robinsons best signings but rotten luck with injury has curtailed the Northern Irish international’s progress in becoming a fan favourite at Charlton.
