Money is tight at Millwall, it always is, so who can Neil Harris turn to this January to help in the push to avoid the drop?

Lee Tomlin

The much-travelled creative midfielder knows all about the Championship. Having starred in Cardiff’s promotion last season he’s found himself out of their 25-man squad in the Premier League despite signing a bumper deal in the Welsh capital keeping him there until 2020.

He’ll surely seek a move away in January and any club willing to take on the 29-year-old will have to shell out on a portion of his wages. But in return he’d provide the much needed spark that Millwall need from their midfield.

There won’t be a shortage of takers for the former Bristol City man and Harris would be more than happy to have him.

Darren Bent

Both Tom Elliott and Steve Morison struggled for goals earlier this season and with them only just coming back injury Harris could be looking for someone to add to the ranks in the forward department.

The former England international is getting on at 34 and hasn’t played since his contract was up in the summer at Derby. But, he always scores goals and has experience at every level which could be invaluable to Harris.

He’s commanded big wages in the past which could rule him out of coming to the Den, but having been without a club for six months and eager to get playing again, surely Bent is willing to compromise?

Gabriel Agbonlahor

Another one who is still without a club having rejected offers to play elsewhere in the Championship after Aston Villa failed to offer him a contract.

Moves to Celtic and potential moves aboard failed to materialise so with the England international still without a club, he may be starting to warm to the idea of playing at somewhere other than Villa Park.

At 32 he could still be an asset for any side, provided he stays fit.

David Nugent

Currently under contract with Derby County meaning money will have to be spent on the 33-year-old. He’s proven at this level and still scoring goals, albeit more sporadically at Pride Park due to finding himself on the bench most weeks.

Clearly in the twilight of his career he would surely want to be getting more game-time and Harris could offer him that at Millwall.

Jan Kirchhoff

Kirchhoff has been at the top of the game and he’s been very close to the bottom. His last outings were with Bolton last season. At 28 he’s still comparably young to the 32-year-old Shaun Williams who currently patrols the centre of the park. His versatility to play centre back as well could prove vital too, especially with rumours that Rangers are preparing another bid for Jake Cooper in January.

Anthony Pilkington

Another man that has cut it at Championship level.
Having turned his form around last season it was a surprise to see Neil Warnock disgard the versatile attacker from his squad for Cardiff's top flight campaign.
He's out of contract next summer and is likely to be happy sat in Cardiff letting it run out with the wages he's on.

But if first team football and not under 23 football is what the former Norwich ace is after then he would have something to offer a side who need a player who can nick a goal.
