The Jamaican has been in and out of Lee Bowyer’s side this season.

The right-winger lost his place after a handful of games and his appearances have largely been in the cup competitions or from the bench in the league.

More recently however, the 31-year-old has been praised for his improvement from Bowyer himself.

A goal from the subs bench against Mansfield in the FA Cup replay may be his only contribution on the scoresheet, but Bowyer has been impressed with how Marshall has turned his form around and is now beginning to push for a starting spot once again.

“Marshall has shown me that if and when I need him, he’s ready,” said the Addicks manager.

“His end product is outstanding. I know I can trust him and he can make something happen. He looks dangerous.”

With Charlton on a fine run of form in the league, and promotion a clear target, it’s no surprise that Bowyer is reluctant to change the starting XI too much.

So, it’s a waiting game now for Marshall who will have to bide his time and take the opportunities as and when they come his way.
