Despite being injured the left-back was offered a new deal early last month showing just how highly he is rated by Lee Bowyer.

“We’ve got the best left-back in the lead” said Bowyer upon Page signing up to the club until 2020.

His ability to provide the sort of deliveries that forwards feed off was a real threat for the Addicks, so to lose him in early October was a blow to Bowyer.

Bowyer often spoke of his desire to get another left-back in January but a fit again Page would surely be first choice following Bowyer’s words of praise.

Toby Stevenson has been utilised for the cup games but Bowyer is reluctant to throw the 18-year-old in to league action, preferring to use Chris Solly at left-back. Solly, although a reliable defender doesn’t get forward like the 22-year-old Page and his return to full fitness will be greeted by both fans and management.
