However, McLaughlin only has 6 appearances to his name so far as Harris has used him as a rotation player who plays second fiddle to the preferred Mahlon Romeo.

He was given chances against QPR, Rotherham and Norwich to prove his case but all ended in defeats.

The most memorable of those games is QPR. He was tormented by former Lion Eberechi Eze for 90 minutes and was at fault their opening goal.

In fact Mclaughlin is yet to be on a winning side this season, with his appearance against Leeds United being the only game where the Lions gained points.

Mclaughlin is suffering from what is known as second season syndrome and Harris is aware of it.

Now 27, the fullback should be in the peak of his career but he is failing miserably to reach the levels that saw him cement his place in the side last season.
