Leyton Orient have been handed a boost on the injury front, with George Elokobi and Dan Happe returning to full fitness.

The duo stepped up their recoveries from their respective injuries by featuring in the O’s 3-0 win over Barnet in a behind closed doors friendly at the club’s training ground yesterday.

Influential centre-back Elokobi has been missing since August, having limped off after just two minutes against Ebbsfleet United in Orient’s first home game of the season.

The O’s confirmed shortly after the match that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers defender had suffered a grade two tear to his hamstring, ruling him out for a number of weeks.

Marvin Ekpiteta has blossomed in Elokobi’s absence at centre-back, with the 22-year-old’s impressive performances earning him the National League’s Player of the Month award for September.

Ekpiteta’s form means that Elokobi has a real fight on his hands to regain his spot in the starting line-up and head coach Justin Edinburgh confirmed that the Cameroon defender had travelled with the Orient squad to Maidenhead on Saturday.

Edinburgh said: “George is back. He was in the squad today. I’m pleased with that. We’ve got a reserve game behind closed doors on Tuesday and we’ve got some players who need minutes so that will come at the right time for us.”

Young centre-back Happe is also available for selection once again having missed the O’s defeat to Sutton United due to an ankle injury.

The Orient academy graduate has largely had to contend with a watching brief during the early weeks of the campaign due to the form of Ekpiteta and Josh Coulson.

Happe’s only appearance this season came during the 1-0 win over Boreham Wood in August, where he played the majority of the second half after replacing Coulson, who was suffering from concussion.

The 20-year-old was named as the club’s Young Player of the Season last year for his mature performances in defence and Edinburgh admits that Happe’s playing time has been limited due to the club’s strength in depth.

Asked about Happe, Edinburgh said: “Yeah he’s fit. Unfortunately, that’s the competition we have. It’s no one’s fault that he picked up an injury prior to last week’s game. The competition for places is fierce here but that’s the way we want it.

"Like I say, when anyone gets a chance, they know they are coming into a team doing well.”
