Luka Milvojevic’s free-kick that struck the post in the first half was the closest either side came to scoring.

Despite looking injured in the warm-up, Palace’s star man Wilfred Zaha looked the most dangerous player on the pitch but was unable to produce that piece of magic we witnessed against Huddersfield last week.

The second half cut a boring display as Crystal Palace and Newcastle shared the points after a stalemate at Selhurst Park.

Here is how News Shopper rated Crystal Palace’s players:

Wayne Hennessey – 6 - Barley called upon, but the few times Newcastle troubled his goal he was alert.

Patrick van Aanholt – 6 - Linked well with Zaha down the left flank and put in some dangerous crosses.

Mamadou Sakho – 6 - Battled with Solomon Rondon for the majority of the game and came out on top. Missed a glaring opportunity to put his team ahead in the second half.

James Tomkins – 5 -  Caught in possession in the opening minutes that allowed Perez through on goal. Cut a frustrated figure after that.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6 - Tamed Newcastle’s Kennedy for much of the game and was a constant offensive threat down the right-hand side.

James McArthur – 5 – Stylish in possession and was Palace’s engine room the entire game.

Luka Milivojevic – 5 – Based on the Serb’s standards, he had a quiet game. His dead-ball delivery’s caused problems throughout.

Chiekhou Kouyate – 5 – Put in a few solid tackles but the former West Ham united man was barley involved in the game.

Wilfred Zaha – 8 – His direct runs terrorised Yedlin all match and was by far Palace’s most dangerous player, again.

Jordan Ayew – 4 – Was kept out of the game by the Toon defence, his flick on to Zaha in the first half was his only real contribution to the game.

Andros Townsend – 6 - Put in some dangerous crosses and put through Meyler in the second half who should have scored.

Subs:

Max Meyer – 5

Alexander Sorloth - 4
