Spider-Man: No Way Home was directed by Jon Watts and was released on 15 December 2021. So far it has managed to gross an astonishing $1.53 billion making it not only the most successful film of 2021 but the eighth most successful film of all time and the highest domestic grossing film for Sony. The film has been widely praised by fans and critics alike. It also appears like No Way Home is set to outperform Avengers: Endgame.

No Way Home, written by Erik Sommers and Colin McKenna, follows off from the cliffhanger in Spider-Man: Far From Home where Spider-Man found his identity exposed, by Mysterio, as Peter Parker to the whole world. Due to the negative attention Peter starts to receive, and more importantly the negative attention his friends MJ and Ned receive, he seeks the help of Doctor Strange in order to create a mind wiping spell that will supposedly cause the world to forget his true identity. However, we can always count on Peter to screw up, and he doesn’t disappoint when he distracts Strange causing the spell to backfire. Due to Peter’s interference his enemies from other universes spill into his world and Peter not only has to defeat them but ultimately try to save them from their respective fates. He gets some help along the way.

In the third Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Tom Holland plays our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man with a new level of humour. Ultimately, Tom succeeds in capturing the emotions of Peter as he has to face his biggest challenge yet. Back playing as the Green Goblin is William Dafoe who even performed his own stunts- despite his age. As the main antagonist of the film Dafoe’s character proves to be a real menace who causes nothing but trouble for Spider-Man. Another noteworthy actor in the film is Jamie Foxx as Electro. Electro takes the top spot as the funniest character in the film with his regular jokes and remarks. Overall, there is a huge cast of actors in No Way Home and it wouldn’t be so far-fetched to claim that all of them did an amazing job at portraying their respective characters.

In conclusion, Spider-Man: No Way Home is a great film that’s worth watching and absolutely filled with deja vu. The film takes characters from all three loved Siderman universes and mixes it into one spectacular film. The only problem I can see is that Marvel has now set the bar so high it’s hard to imagine a future film that could outperform it. Although with each Spider-Man film being clearly better than the last it leaves fans in anticipation for what’s next to come.
