Mystery surrounds the disappearance of Butthead the goat, a star attraction at Farmyard Funworld in Bushey, , Hertforshire, who vanished last weekend.

Staff at the farmyard, based in the Lincolnsfield Centre, arrived at work on Monday morning to find to their horror that Butthead, a three foot tall pygmy goat, was nowhere to be seen.

Butthead's pen is in the middle of the farm and staff do not believe he would have been able to escape unaided. Instead, it is thought thieves climbed over a fence and managed to carry the goat back out with them.

Mel Dunscombe, manager of the centre, said: "On Sunday we had a lovely, friendly, big horned, billy goat and on Monday he was gone.

"How they got in and how they got out is a complete mystery."

Staff do not know whether Butthead was stolen for meat or to breed.

Mel added: "He used to sit on a special climbing frame we made for him. Everyone used to comment on him and say how friendly he was."

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Butthead can call the police non-emergency number on 0845 3300 222.
