Can you imagine how thrilling it would be to slide down the Shard?

Sadly we’re not able to tell you this fantasy is being turned into reality, but if the idea of a helter-skelter around the Southwark skyscraper appeals to you then at least you’re in good company.

A quarter of Brits want to slide down The Shard, according to a survey by online ticket company AttractionTix.co.uk that asked people which world landmark they would most like to see turned into a ride.

The top 10 landmarks Brits want transformed into slides:

  1. The Shard
  2. Grand Canyon, Arizona
  3. Eiffel Tower, Paris
  4. The Bullring, Birmingham
  5. Statue of Liberty, New York
  6. Burj Khalifa, Dubai
  7. Big Ben
  8. Sydney Opera House
  9. The Pyramids, Egypt
  10. Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

If the 1,016-ft Shard was ever turned into a slide it would be 600ft higher than the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower in the Olympic Park which is set to be the tallest and longest tunnel slide in the world next year.

This Is Local London:

Simon Applebaum, consumer marketing director at AttractionTix.co.uk, said: “The public’s thrill-seeking ambition to slide down one of the UK’s tallest skyscrapers is certainly impressive, if not slightly worrying!

“When we heard that the ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower was going to be transformed into a slide it was exciting news not only for Londoners but for anyone visiting the capital, and it’ll be a great addition to the UK’s attractions.”
