Watch the stunning moment Jimmy Anderson dismissed Virat Kohli for a first-ball duck in England’s Test match against India.

It is one of the most compelling battles in Test cricket, and possibly the final chapter in the Anderson versus Kohli story.

It ended in an exhilarating knockout blow for Anderson who found a bit of lift in the channel and picked up a healthy nick as Kohli pushed forward with hard hands.

Buttler held on again and Anderson leapt into the air before charging off towards point, an unusually passionate celebration for the 39-year-old and one that said plenty about the importance of the moment as Trent Bridge erupted.

Fans couldn't wait to congratulate the 39-year-old on social media.

One fan tweeted: "When Anderson is celebrating so much, you know it's the biggest wicket in tests, great bowling man."

As second added: "Jimmy is now the 3rd highest wicket taker in Test Match History! He is the GOAT!!"

"Wow. This is really amazing to watch. Jimmy Anderson to kohli," said a third.

Despite the celebrations India remain firmly in control of the test.

Having dismissed the hosts for an underwhelming 183 on Wednesday, India reached the interval on 97 for one – with Rohit Sharma out to the last ball of the session.

With floodlights in use, the umpires opted to take the players off for bad light – drawing an end to the session with India on 125/4.

Ahead of the first Test, Kohli was full of praise for Anderson.

He siad: "Jimmy Anderson is a world-class bowler.

“I probably would have thought way too much about how to handle him in England in 2014. From there onwards, I have treated every bowler as someone, who is running in with the ball, as I need to play the ball not the bowler."
