Two Middlesex University students have been shortlisted for the National University Entrepreneur competition.
Asaf Nahum and Ravi Jay created a website called myMzone to create an online platform to allow people to make the most of London’s markets.
The website allows merchants to display their wares online meaning that prospective buyers can browse market goods without leaving their home.
The website now has more than 60 traders signed up and has sold to customers as far away as Australia, Japan and Canada.
In the finals of the National University Entrepreneur competition Mr Nahum and Mr Jay will pitch their business to a judging panel and a 300 strong audience of business experts.
If they get through this stage they will then face a further event in July during which they will have to pitch to international entrepreneurs and business people.
The co-founder Asaf Nahum added: “The concept behind myMzone was inspired by London 2012 Olympics.
“While the exposure and visibility can be leveraged to promote the local markets, the buzz generated can be translated to expand sale volumes of local merchants.”
The competition’s winner will receive support from a range of sponsors.
