A number of flood alerts remain in place for areas of Surrey as the region braces for more rain in the wake of Storm Dennis.

As of Monday (February 24), amber flood alerts were in place near a number of towns in the North of the county that bordered the River Thames.

One of the areas under an alert is the stretch of the Thames between Shepperton and Molesey, the government's flood information service, responsible for issuing the alerts and warnings, said.

"Property flooding is not expected. River levels remain high on the River Thames as a result of recent heavy rainfall from Storm Dennis but are slowly falling," a spokesperson for the government authority said.

"Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected to continue.

"Further rainfall is forecast today (24/02/20) which may be heavy in places.

"Our response staff have been in the area clearing trash screens and checking defences.

"Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and refer to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels," they added.
