Pupils at two primary schools in Bexley have been rewarded for ditching the car and walking to school instead as part of a charity initiative to promote greener travel.
Classes from Longlands Primary and Hook Lane Primary School were given various prizes, including tickets to Leeds Castle in Kent, for demonstrating the highest number of 'green' journeys of schools involved.
The initiative, run by School Inspirational Services, encourages parents and children to opt for cycling and walking wherever possible.
According to the charity, 318,000 fewer school runs were made in the car in south-east London as a result of the initiative.
School Inspirational Services' Walk to School campaign runs monthly competitions between schools to promote healthier and more environmentally friendly travel amongst school pupils.
