A popular Watford science teacher who was controversially sacked earlier in the year will learn the decision of an appeal hearing next week.

Martin Elvin was sacked by Westfield Community Technology College after a long-running investigation into an alleged pupil assault.

This accusation is vigorously denied by supporters – some of whom have held protests outside the school – and Mr Elvin’s family.

He will appear at an appeal hearing on Monday and Tuesday at a Watford hotel.

Three school governors are expected to rule on the legitimacy of his dismissal.
