Dennis Locorriere, the voice behind legendary band Dr Hook, will be making a return to Wycombe Swan.

Always popular with audiences here Dennis has put High Wycombe on his UK touring schedule.

Although he's a veteran to tour with his old band and lately as a solo artist this spring is slightly different. From tomorrow Dennis will be entertaining audiences across the UK on a 44-date UK tour which means his last show will be on June 20 plus he will also be releasing and promoting a new studio album called One Of The Lucky Ones.

But this hard-working singer songwriter can't get enough.

"I love to go out and perform," he says. "You know just walking out on stage, playing songs that are personal to me and talking to the audience. It's more enjoyable now than when I was working in a successful band."

For the younger generation his old band, Dr Hook, were one of the many bands who could fill stadiums in the 1970s. They had hit after hit and were famous for classic hits including Sexy Eyes, When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman, Sylvia's Mother and The Ballad Of Lucy Jordan.

The band was rewarded with more than 60 gold and platinum albums. They were renowned for their live shows, spending 300 days a year on the road, which helped gain them Number One chart status in more than 42 countries.

Since the band called it a day at its height at the end of the 1970s Dennis hasn't stopped working. He's appeared in a film with Dustin Hoffman, starred in a successful one-man play, recorded solo material and toured the world giving quality live performances of all his hits.

Dennis says of touring: "Now, I just tour for me, and it's not about where I used to be. It's about where I am now. I mean what is the point of having an illustrous history, if it makes you feel sad now?

"Yes I had success once, but now I don't need to put pressure on myself. Now it's just me, the guitar and a friendly audience. And that's the way I like it."

Dennis Locorriere, the voice of Dr Hook, will be on stage at The Swan Theatre, High Wycombe on Thursday, March 31.
