A minor car accident in Tooting sparked a road rage incident in which two motorists beat each other with planks.
Police were called several times by alarmed members of the public, who witnessed the incident outside Sainsbury's in Tooting Broadway at 7.21am on Wednesday.
Witnesses claimed they saw two cars bump, which led to a fight breaking out between the motorists.
One onlooker said others joined in the fracas, holding up other motorists.
He said: "Traffic was backed up all the way from the Garratt Lane Junction all the way to the Blackshaw Road junction.
"I was riding my scooter to work and when I reached the fight it was in full swing in the middle of the road."
Police arrested a 34-year-old Asian man and a 28-year-old white man. Both have been bailed and are due to return to police on December 30.
