THIS is what the new Eurostar train maintenance depot on the Leyton/Stratford border will look like.
The image was released by Channel tunnel chiefs on Friday after the Government's transport secretary Alisdair Darling gave the go-ahead to the £402 million project at Temple Mills last week.
The new depot will come into service when Eurostar trains begin to run through Stratford in 2007, following completion of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) from north Kent into Kings Cross. It will replace the current North Pole International depot in west London.
The Temple Mills site is currently occupied by EWS trains running out of Stratford.
The new depot will be on existing railway land a mile north of the new Stratford International station, which will serve trains from Paris and Brussels.
Preliminary works have already started on site.
Visit the website at www.ctrl.co.uk for more information about the project.
