Asked whether life was more fun since she became a blonde, Tory heavyweight Ann Widdecombe admitted last week that it was but complained that she also found that men now talked to her much more slowly.
Miss Widdecombe had joined the Putney Conservatives' women's branch for a lunch last Thursday at the Travel Inn, Putney Bridge.
As well as taking questions, she also issued a "rallying call", according to local agent Chris Scott, urging the party's foot soldiers to get out canvassing in the hope of stealing marginal Putney back from Labour at the next election. Deadlinepix CM1504-C
