After losing her mum, gran and grandad and the breakdown of her marriage in a devastating two-year period, Anastasia Frampton explains why she is entering a glamour model competition.

FOR many people the loss of just one relative can have a devastating effect on them.

However Anastasia Frampton, who grew up in Imperial Way, Chislehurst, was determined to carry on with her life.

The 32-year-old spent a year caring for her mother Sally, who was suffering from a brain tumour.

Her mum eventually died in November 2007, aged 58.

Anastasia said: “I looked after her the whole time. We had one of the most fantastic years and we did so much.

“We used to go on picnics, watch films, just making the most of the time we had.”

She added: “We told each other we loved each other every day.

“It changed me as a person. I appreciate things in my life and my friends a lot more now.

“Watching people suffering made me realise how lucky you are and what you have.”

Soon afterwards, Anastasia’s gran Joyce died due to Alzheimer’s and her grandfather, Stanley, died from throat cancer.

Anastasia said: “A lot of family got ill. You do start to think is it me next?”

This year Anastasia has also had to deal with splitting from her husband, leaving her to bring up her four-year-old son Rocco.

She is dealing with her grief by raising money for charity.

Her struggle has seen her taking part in a charity calendar competition with a theme, Hollywood glamour without taking your clothes off.

Anastasia, who works at a stables in Slades Drive, Chislehurst, said: “My friend is a model and she told me about the competition.

“It was for people who had been through a lot and can come through smiling.

“I just wanted to raise a lot of money, not just a couple of hundred pounds, and also give me some confidence after being knocked down so many times.”

Anastasia is hoping to get the highest number of votes in the country to ensure she goes through to the final after regional heats.

The rest of the girls will go into next month’s semi-finals for more voting.

Then the 40-strong final later this summer will see 12 girls selected for a 2010 calendar.

The overall winner will get prizes worth a total of £10,000 as well as being on the cover of the calendar, while the other 11 girls will get £1,000 worth of prizes.

Their calendar will be used to raise money for a dozen charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, The Mood Foundation, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Stroke Care.

Anastasia’s charity activities will also see her compete in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life for the second time, while last weekend she rode her horse in the Ride for Life.

She is also helping out a small charity in Erith called Last Chance, which tries to give young people who are ill opportunities and trips.

Anastasia said: “Instead of just going to the doctors and getting anti-depressants I have been raising money for charity.

“I have learnt to keep fighting.”

She added: “I always think ‘what would my mum think?’ “If she was up there looking down what would she see?

“The worst thing would be me falling apart, so I want her to be looking down smiling.”
