Theatre503 is back for a new season of exciting new theatre written by outstanding new theatrical talent, and the coming week sees the Battersea venue stage two shows a night.

Firstly, Vivien, which follows iconic actress Vivien Leigh through her tumultuous relationship with husband Laurence Olivier and beyond. Written by Samantha German and starring Maeve McClenaghan, who originally teamed up on Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire in September 2006, Vivien is a story of love, madness and desire, set behind a visage of 1950s glamour and fame.

While Vivien takes the later slot at 8.45pm until Saturday, Restitution provides the hors d’oeuvres at 7.30pm. From the pen of Emily Juniper, this production follows Robert on his quest to recover the painting that was stolen from his grandparents by Nazis. It turns up in a unassuming German gallery, but the gallery assistant will not hand it over, but why?

Next week sees the first major production of the Theatre503 new season, Mimi and the Stalker. The show centres on schoolgirl Michelle Latchford, who is snatched from obscurity, thrust into the spotlight and transformed into Hollywood's hottest property, Mimi Luck. Mimi and the Stalker enjoys a four-week run, see next week’s paper for a full preview.
