With Edinburgh Festival winding down again, London is welcoming back some highly talented comics back into the fold - to the benefit of our local comedy clubs.

The Banana Cabaret in Balham’s Bedford pub has two nights headlined by the brilliant I’m-posh-you’re-not act Will Smith, who exercises his right to look down his nose at all and sundry. He is supported by the excellent Peter Cain and Nick Revell, and on Saturday Paul Sinha makes a welcome return to the club circuit. Aside from a successful Edinburgh run, Sinha appeared at the festival’s comedy Countdown shows as Carol Vorderman.

Over at the Comedy Carnival in Clapham, Aussie metaller Steve Hughes headlines alongside the ececentric Kiwi Jarred Christmas and the skilful and witty Josh Howie, whose Edinburgh show Chosen garnered many four- and five-star reviews as well as a national Guardian article stating that he had spilled over from irony to outright offensiveness. See where you stand.

The weekly Comedy Tree nights at Putney Walkabout return on September 4 with the award-winning Sean Meo topping the bill.
