Up to 50 baggage handler and ground staff jobs are under threat at Stansted Airport now that airport services company Aviance has announced it is facing difficulties in the wake of Ryanair's takeover of Buzz.
Aviance had warned in March that jobs were likely to go when Ryanair released details of its takeover plans, but the company recently confirmed redundancies could not be avoided.
Transport and General Worker's Union regional industrial organiser Jo Jaques said: "The low cost airline business at Stansted is charging a high price in jobs at Stansted. The takeover of Buzz by Ryanair has had a very direct impact on our members and every day brings a new twist to the saga.
"We will do all we can to minimise the impacts of these latest cuts and will do our best to ensure there are no compulsory redundancies."
