Art featuring Kylie Minogue's bottom was pulled from the Royal Academy's summer show on the opening day following a complaint from the singer's lawyers.
The Academy was asked to withdraw the Dilek O'Keeffe work titled Consumerism 2 from the show.
It is understood the piece was withdrawn from the exhibition because of possible breached copyright.
Ms O'Keeffe told BBC News Online she was dumbstruck by the move.
To be selected from 12,000 submissions had been mindblowing she added.
The copyright dispute concerned one of the images used in the artwork, which is also seen in the video to Minogue's hit song Spinning Around.
The summer exhibition will run until August 10.
