The Times has revealed its list of the top 50 pizza spots in the UK – with four locations in south London taking a slice of the credit.
It’s no mystery that we love a good pizza here in the UK, whether it’s a classic Margarita or the fiercely debated Hawaiian pizza.
London has its fair share of pizza restaurants, since pizza was first introduced to the capital in the 1870s at a restaurant in Covent Garden.
11 London restaurants made the list, and these four are in south London:
Dinner for One Hundred, Nunhead
Located on Telegraph Hill, Dinner for One Hundred originally started as a dinner for 100 people in 2020 just before the pandemic.
Now the business operates as a pizzeria in The Station Hill Café on Telegraph Hill, serving a range of hearty pizzas including vegan options and a gluten free pizza, as well as their popular Giant Cheesy Garlic Bread.
They also offer delivery via Uber Eats and Instagram DM between Thursday and Sundays if you fancy ordering a pizza to eat at home.
Napoli on the Road, Chiswick
This next one on the list isn’t a stranger to winning an award.
Napoli on the Road first began as a travelling pizza busineses created by Michele Pascarella, who made pizzas in his Ape Piaggio pizza oven all over London before setting up shop in Richmond and Chiswick.
The restaurant, considered to be the ‘first’ pizzeria to bring contemporary high crust pizza to the UK, was also previously named as best pizzeria in Europe by the online guide 50 Top Pizza, while chef Michele Pascarella was awarded Global Pizza Maker of the Year in 2023.
The menu has 16 different pizzas to choose from, ranging from classics like Diavola to a vegan menu, and signature dishes like their Cheesewick, paying homage to the restaurant's hometown, made with four different cheeses and cherry tomato jam.
But if you don’t like pizza, they also offer a range of other classic Italian dishes like Truffle Bruschetta and Caprese Salad.
Bad Boy Pizza Society, various locations
Starting off in Southampton, Bad Boy Pizza Society was created by four university friends, and now there are 3 locations in London, with one in Norwood and another in London Bridge.
Their Norwood branch serves 12-inch New York style crispy pizzas, with bold toppings like honey and spicy njuda, as well as sides like classic arancini and cheesy garlic bread, with prices starting from £4.
Chatsworth Bakehouse, Crystal Palace
Located in Anerley, Chatsworth Bakehouse is a popular bakehouse selling both sweet and savoury bakes, open from 12:30pm to 4:30pm on Wednesday to Friday, and 11am to 4pm on Saturday.
The bakehouse first opened in 2021, with the venue always having long queues on weekends for its baked goods.
For pizza lovers they serve Grandma Slices with a range of toppings like hot honey and pepperoni, burrata, sweet potatoes with onion and wild garlic, and sweet leek and gorgonzola.
