Dulwich park run
If you are looking for a way to get active on a sunny weekend, then park run is perfect for you.Its a fun way to get active and runs up and down the country in hundreds of parks.

Running:
The course is 5k for all parkruns. For my local park this was three times around. You don’t have to be a pro runner or have an amazing time to participate. There are hundreds of participants each week with heaps of range in ability. You can run or walk the course with no judgement and even find a friend on the way.It is not a competition in fact almost opposite as people are there to have a run with their friends catch up and start their Saturday.

Although participants have the option of having a recorded time which makes it simple to track progress each week they are not the main focus of the run.

Volunteering:
The park run could not run if there are no people volunteering each week.Volunteering is an amazing opportunity to meet new people and help at a community event.Additionally, if you are like me you and prefer to sleep in on the weekend you will find a reason for getting up earlier resulting in an overall more productive day. Volunteers are there for support though the run, making sure peoples times are tracked and setting up and packing away the starts and finish lines.

In Dulwich park when you are on your way out of the park there are an abundance of delicious cafes and restaurants where you can stop and get a coffee with a friend or meet people here if you are looking for a social event.

If a social Saturday is not for you there are many solo runners of different abilities who just come for the run so no one looks out of place.

From seven year olds finishing their first runs to people who have been to over 100 runs the range of runners, finishers coming in from 16 minutes to 50 minutes the  age, ability and experience of around 600 runners in just (one park) each week could not be more varied.

If you like running or want to help out your community or are just wanting to let your friend do it and meet them for a coffee after signing up on the parkrun website or send this to a friend.
